Monthly Bill Explained – Not Just A Water Bill
When you refer to the monthly bill you receive from PGMUD, you probably call it a “water bill.” But the bill actually includes charges for sewer and drainage. In fact, the cost of water may be the lowest portion of each month’s bill!
Let’s assume that your family used 10,000 gallons of water for the month. Your bill for the month would be $59.78. Of that amount, only $16.00 would be for water and $15.00 would be for the surface water conversion fee. The other $28.78 would be the monthly charge for sewer and drainage services as well. The cost of garbage and recycling services is also paid from the monies collected from District customers.
To encourage water conservation, the cost of water becomes more expensive the more you use each month. Pecan Grove MUD charges a minimum monthly charge of $12.00 per single family residential connection, plus a per gallon charge for water usage as shown below:
From 0 to 6,000 gallons $12.00 flat
From 6,001 to 10,000 gallons $1.00 per 1,000 gallons
From 10,001 to 15,000 gallons $2.00 per 1,000 gallons
From 15,001 to 20,000 gallons $2.50 per 1,000 gallons
From 20,001 to 30,000 gallons $3.00 per 1,000 gallons
30,001 gallons or more $3.50 per 1,000 gallons
Surface Water Conversion Fee $1.50 per 1,000 gallons
The sewer rate is a flat rate of $28.78 per month. Unlike some water districts, your sewer rate does not increase based upon the amount of water you used during the billing cycle.
