Highlights of Pecan Grove MUD Meeting – February 25, 2025

The regular monthly meeting of the Pecan Grove Municipal Utility District was held at the Pecan Grove MUD Administration Building at 5:30 p.m. on February 25, 2025. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in the PGMUD Community/Administration building at noon.

Key card readers have been installed at the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Use of these cards is planned to begin March 10. See Engineers Report for news on project plans for these areas. Terry Landscaping has started site work around the fitness center.


The Club at Pecan Grove

Ralph Shelbourne reported on projects and changes at The Club at Pecan Grove. This summer, The Grove and Plantation golf courses will be rebuilt — one nine at a time. Work has started on repairs to the irrigation system.

In the club building, renovation of the dining area continues. In the temporary restaurant upstairs, the club will be adding some brunches. Marketing to the public is planned to begin in March. Repair work to the wall around the lake in front of the building is being planned. The front doors to the club are going to be replaced.

January 2025 testing showed that the drinking water and wastewater systems met the state and federal compliance standards for disinfection, and there were no permit excursions for the month.

The repairs of the SWTP raw pumps #1 and #2 plus the #1 motor are in process. Replacement of the #2 sludge pump is in process. The replacement of the skid C pump and motor is in process. The replacement of the sludge pump #2 is in process.

New surge protection for Water Plant #2 is in process, as is the replacement of the check valves #3 and #4. The repair at Lift Station #9 on the #1 motor is in process. Repair of the levee sluice valve on the emergency interconnect with Harvest Green is in process.

The repairs to the district’s fire hydrants are in process, as is the painting of all 412 hydrants. The blue dots that need replacement are being addressed.

The repair of the altitude valve at the elevated storage tank is in process.

New key card access to some of the district’s facilities, plus new cameras, is complete.

Si Enviro was authorized to replace the Solar Bee tank mixer at the elevated storage tank. Recommended preventative maintenance on the jet machine was authorized.

The annual performance testing on the district’s water wells was completed with no problems noted.

Old water meters continue to be replaced, with 27 replaced in February for a total of 1,696 replaced to date.

Residents are urged to call Si Enviro first if there is an outside water leak.


TAXES

Tax collections for fiscal 2025 have reached 73.56% as of 1/31/2025.

Parks and Facilities Report

  • New cameras have been installed at Pecan Grove Park and at the pool and workout facilities at the club.
  • New access locks with key fobs are being installed at the tennis and pool gates at the club.
  • The work on the fences for the tennis courts has been completed.
  • A contract for maintaining the workout building was signed.
  • The problems with HVAC at the Administration/Community building are being addressed.

The Club at Pecan Grove

  • Chuck Odom reported that repairs are progressing on the golf course irrigation system.
  • Plans for 2025 include a budget of $1.75 million to rebuild 18 holes.
  • Overall, the whole course is improving even before the major rebuild project begins.
  • The restroom buildings have been repaired and painted.
  • In the Clubhouse, renovations are in process that includes new floor coverings and painting.

    • Si Enviro was authorized to repair the levee sluice valve on the emergency interconnect with Harvest Green.

    • Painting of all 412 hydrants is in process.

  • Elevated Storage Tank:
    • Repair of the altitude valve at the elevated storage tank is in process.
  • Security:
    • New key card access to some of the district’s facilities plus new cameras are in process.
  • Annual Shutdown:
    • The annual shutdown of the SWTP for scheduled maintenance will begin February 7, 2025.
    • At that time, the annual exchange of the Activated Charcoal will be performed, and the cleaning of the raw water intake, sedimentation basin, and the clear well will occur.
  • Meter Replacement:
    • The program to replace high-usage residence meters continues in the district, with 1,669 meters replaced since January 2023.
  • Residents are urged to call Si Enviro first if there is an outside water leak.

TAXES

  • Tax collections for fiscal 2025 have reached just over 12.7% as of 12/31/2024.
