Project includes removing a large tree which is dying located at the toe of the existing levee, backfilling and repairing the levee, as necessary, and installation of swing gates to facilitate maintenance. Project consists of the following scope:
Bee Hive Removal & Relocation
Tree, Retaining Wall Removal, and Levee Reconstruction
Gate and Fence Installation
Fence and gate installation is complete, and the project is expected to be closed out in August 2024.
Rehabilitation of Chemical Feed System at Surface Water Plant
Project includes modifications and rehabilitation of the chemical feed system at the surface water plant to increase efficiency and due to components reaching design life. The contractor is complete with the project, and the startup inspection was held on July 30, 2024, with only minor punch list items. The contractor is expected to complete within the week and the project is expected to be closed out in August 2024.
Project includes updating the control panel and related electrical system at the wastewater treatment plant as well as the replacement of the existing generator. The generator has been delivered and installed on the site. The contractor is still waiting on control center delivery which is expected in September 2024. The existing diesel generator is still onsite and operational.
South Pump Station Generator
Project includes the replacement of the existing diesel generator at the South Pump Station. The contractor has completed preliminary site work. The engineer reported that the generator will be delivered to the wastewater treatment plant until ready for installation as CenterPoint is currently upgrading the natural gas service line to accommodate the new generators.
Elevated Storage Tank and Surface Water Plant Recoating
Project includes recoating of the elevated storage tank and components of the surface water treatment plant. Recoating of the elevated storage tank will include the Pecan Grove graphic on both the north and south-facing sides. The contractor has started work on the interior of the elevated storage tank. The Board approved Pay Request No. 1 in the amount of $54,900.00.
Storm Sewer Outfall Rehabilitation
Project includes repair and/or replacement of many storm sewer outfalls throughout the District based on inspections. The project is on hold due to high river levels and storm cleanup.
Programming Updates for the Surface Water Treatment Plant
Project includes upgrading the automation and computer components of the plant, including all necessary programming. Contracts are fully executed, and a pre-construction meeting will be scheduled for early July 2024.
Projects Under Design
South Pump Station Headwall Modification and Redundant Closure Devices
Project includes modification of headwall structure for the South Stormwater pump station to allow for the design and installation of backup closure devices. Design Paid for out of Bond Issue No. 18 and construction to be funded by a future bond issue. Project is submitted for final approval.
North Pump Station Redundant Closure Devices
Project includes the design and installation of backup closure devices at the North Pump Station. Design Paid for out of Bond Issue No. 18 and construction to be funded by a future bond issue. Project is submitted for final approval.
Belt Press Upgrades at Surface Water Treatment Plant
Project includes upgrading the belt press at the surface water treatment plant to allow for consistent operation and reduce the overall run time of the process. Contracts were executed by the Board, and the engineer will schedule a pre-construction meeting for August 2024.
Waterline Rehabilitation – Phase Two
Project includes the replacement of aging waterline infrastructure within Plantation, Section One with an additional location of Mayweather Lane between Plantation Drive and Morton League Road. Project to be paid out of bond funds. The engineer presented the proposed schedule for the project, which includes construction commencing in the 1st Quarter of 2025.
Additional Engineering Items
Feasibility for Development at Brandt Road and Mason Road
The engineer reported that the potential development for the proposed land located at Brandt Road and Mason Road paid the $15,000 deposit with the District for a feasibility study. The engineer is analyzing the current wastewater flow in the District sanitary sewer lines to determine the necessary improvements to the system to serve the potential tracts.
FEMA and TDEM Reimbursement
The engineer reported they are working with FEMA and TDEM to submit District expenses related to Hurricane Beryl cleanup for federal reimbursement. In connection with this request, FEMA requires that the District establish a “Not to Exceed” limit for professional services. The Board authorized Odyssey Engineering Group to expend not to exceed $25,000 for services related to Hurricane Beryl.
